More horses

We picked up our free gelding today. He is under 10 years old, but is really hopped up on grain. He is a horse that was rescued from a slaughter truck. He is really pretty, but needs to be detoxed off the grain....in fact for now we are calling him Detox or "D" for short. He is getting used to his surroundings and will hopefully calm down soon. Roderigo is perfect. I love him. He is really friendly. Enjoy the pictures.

Detox is one lucky horse. Is he trained? I'm glad you guys took him in. =)

I guess he is "broke" but he is pretty hot. I am thinking that might be from the continual intake of alfalfa and 4-5lbs of grain a day. After he is cleansed I am hoping he calms down. I think he might be Tod's project. I like Roderigo more and more everyday!!!

Love the new horses...glad you took in a 'rescue'! Grayson will enjoy seeing them all one day when we finally make it out there! :)

No kidding. When you have a free Tuesday or Thursday we will have to get you out here. I think he will have fun with the goat and ponies, then he can jump on the trampoline or even go swimming. Good times.

Brian really likes the looks of "D". He couldn't believe that he was en route to...you know where...before detouring to your place!

Tod rode him the other day. He did really well. Better than was expected. Now that he has come down from his grain high, he is like a new horse. I think he will work out nicely for somebody...probably Tod.

Oh good, I was hoping it would go that way. Amazing what people are willing to throw away, huh?

It is too bad. You can't give a horse away anymore. (except to people like us who can't say no) People are desperate, and have no money to buy hay. It's sad.
